Blogging. I never know which is best, to simply post on Facebook, to Blog, or both?
So far this year has been incredible. Full of creativity and I feel so lucky and blessed to be able to fill my working hours on something that I am passionate about.
There are 2 amazingly talented people that have come on board. Martha our very creative assistant and artist as well as Shirley, a very talented photographer and artist. The three of us make a really dynamic team and the energy is fantastic.
Here are a few images taking so far this year.
We started out with Kristina & Johnathan. I had noticed that a recently cleared parcel of land in Liberta had uncovered a wonderful old church.

There are some wonderful old houses in Antigua that are being demolished. I find the colours and textures a great backdrop for a creative shoot.

Shirley rummaged through all the rats and rotten wood to find this old radio! Classic!

a regular day in the office...

When Michele emailed me during the summer 2011, she said she had some angel wings. The same wings that were used in a Victoria Secret shoot. What a fab idea!

Michele was not a strong swimmer, but was happy to do anything I asked! It is not an easy task floating in a wedding dress so we had to talk her through it, keeping her calm and relaxed at all times. She was pretty awesome!

That's us! Enjoying a much deserved lunch!

Sofia and Ben were as game as you can get! I have always wanted to plonk a bride in the middle of the bay at Green Island. Carlos agreed to let us use his very fast boat, so loaded with camera equipment off we went!

It is quite a challenge taking an underwater photo of a bride. Any tiny movement upsets the sand and without a weight belt it is impossible to sit merrily on the coral, playing a guitar! It took a lot of patience, but we got the shots in the end.

This wonderful couple had already said 'I do' back in their hometown of New Orleans. This afternoon we had a lot of fun being creative with then around English Harbour, ending up on Pigeon Beach for a tiny splash and the sunset.

The Flower of Love...

Bougainvillea (pronounced /ˌbuːɡɨnˈvɪliə/)[2] is a genus of flowering plants native to South America from Brazil west to Peru and south to southern Argentina (Chubut Province). Different authors accept between four and 18 species in the genus. The plant was classified by Europeans in Brazil in 1768, by Philibert Commerçon, a French botanist accompanying French Navy admiral and explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville during his voyage of circumnavigation....
This beautiful flower is also referred to as 'The flower of Love' in some countries and it is for this reason that Ben and Nicole decided to get married right next to the Bougainvillea plant and not on the beach...

When Will contacted me about taking their photos I somehow assumed they had just got married and were out here on honeymoon. When I met them, it instantly stuck me how in love they were. I often get asked to shoot couples on their honeymoon in Antigua.
Will and Sarah have been married for 11 years, I would never have guessed! The love and unique bond they have is that of a couple just married - it was a real treat to spend a couple of hours with them. Thank you Will and Sarah.

I first met Paul at the bar, he was sipping on a beer while Richard whom he met a day before the wedding was puffing on a cigar. Richard has been married for 37 years, and it was 37 years since he had attended a wedding. Paul, the groom, did not care much for weddings - 2 peas in a pod! Paul also informed me that Jodie did not like having her photos taken - so, a real challenge lay before me!
I was really on edge, how am I going to take photos of a bride who does not like the camera. All my fears vanished as soon as I met Jodie, we were instantly at ease and clicked right away. Her beautiful smile and calm manor was a breath of fresh air.
Congrats Jodie & Paul, it was a pleasure working with you both!

On my way to Galley Bay today I had some time to kill so I took a really slow drive winding in and out of the tiny streets. I do believe that there are no accidents in life and most importantly I believe that moments present themselves if we choose to see them. A lot of people ask me how I like living in Antigua and it is sometimes hard to express my reasons why I live here.
A complete stranger to me - Enid, an 80 year old woman; welcomes me into her home. I have nothing to offer her but a smile and my company. It is a very powerful feeling when someone you do not know tells you that they love you; simply because you have a moment to stop and give a little of your time. It is these fleeting moments that give me a real sense of acceptance.

Sea Terror

Sea Terror is a yacht that has lived in English Harbor for many years. A couple of weeks ago, she dragged anchor and sank. Very sad.
I thought it would make a great backdrop for a trash the dress and as luck had it, I had one f e a r l e s s BRIDE who was up for it. I called up Sylvain who runs SUNSAIL and he volunteered to drive their tender and he picked us up from the dock at Galleon Beach.
The boat was surrounded by diesel so we dashed off to find some dishwashing liquid to disperse the slick. Dani hopped right in and was truly FEARLESS!

When I asked Chiara who here favorite model was she said Cindy Crawford. So no pressure when it's your wedding day and Cindy Crawford is on the same beach as you surrounded by photographers and producers! A dream come true!
Congratulations Chiara and Tomaso!

When you fly to the Caribbean to get married, the last thing you really want is for it to rain on your wedding day! It poured down last week when Monica and Giorgio tied the knot. Although we managed to capture some wonderful photos on the day, Monica really wanted the beach, blue ocean shots. We decided to meet up when the sun came out..

In Antigua we love it when it rains. It fills our water tanks and feeds the rainforest and gardens. However, when you have planned a wedding on the beach, the rain is the last thing you wish for. Daniela worked her magic and although we were not on the beach, we overlooked it and the love and joy of Giorgio and Monica was as powerful as the warmest sun and clear blue sky! It may have rained today, but on our little balcony, the sun was shinning in every direction. Congratulations Monica and Giorgio!
Congratulazioni Monica e Giorgio!

Italy, probably the most romantic place on the planet, so when Italians come to Antigua to get married, it tells me that Antigua must be up there in the worlds most romantic destinations - and I get to be part of the most romantic gesture ever - clicking away when two people promise their lives to each other and say 'I do'.
Daniela of course does the most amazing job and I love being a part of all her weddings!
Daniela fa un lavoro eccezionale e io adoro prendere parte a tutti i suoi matrimoni!

There is nothing more romantic that the sound of waves lapping onto the shore, a clear blue sky, an arch made of flowers and the gentle sound of steel pan drums on your wedding day.

Love is such a beautiful thing and I get to be there in the thick of it. After 5 years of shooting weddings and trash the dress you'd think I would be over the emotional part - nope, I still end up with my eyes welling with tears the moment the bride starts to cry, or the groom for that matter. This was definately one of those moments! Congratulations Nicole and Scott!
